It is nice to have tea and coffee whenever you like and the guesthouse is quite central for everything you need.
There was to many stairs however we did know that as I had read the reviews
the room was very comfortable with good facilities including hospitality tray, television and hairdryer.
It was unfortunate that the room was not ensuite.
Very good value and nice and central in Edinburgh
I like that it was in the center of town.
My name is pavlos lydakis and I made a booking to castle view hotel for 3 adults and two children. 15 days before we fly ,we sent email to change the booking because we cancel one adult and the price for two adults and two children room it was cheaper than the first one. We never receive your answer in the two days you have said. We arrived at the hotel and the manager of hotel said that he already knew about the change of the booking but we had to pay the money for 6 person room. Im not happy with this progress and I want you to do something for it. That means that I want my extra money back that I paid. We stayed 6 nights and they never change the sheets only towels. The building was so old that when you were walking in the room you had the feeling of earthquake. The windows were very old so noise and wind passed through inside the room.
I walked right past when looking for this place, as outside it is unassuming and easy to miss. Inside though, my room was spacious, comfy bed, lovely bathroom, nice design, fantastic breakfast. The staff were nice and free internet too. I really cannot fault this hotel at all. Very highly recommended. I will return, whether business or pleasure.
No complaint, just advice. As it is an old building, there is no lift, due to it being a listed building, so maybe not so good for infirm or elderly.
Great location, comfortable bed, very nice for the price.
With a lot of luggage, climbing the stairs could be difficult.
I was put in a family room for no extra charge, as there were no single rooms left. Staff were really helpful and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was really nice and well maintained. I particularly liked all the biscuits and sweets left with the tea and coffee facilities in the room :-)
Remember to bring shampoo, as only shower gel is provided
Location was great, staff friendly and great breakfast. Very accommodating and helpful
The door to our room squeaked whenever someone walked past send the plumbing makes a horrible noise when the toilet is flushed. Generally difficult to sleep because of all the noise
Fantastic location, friendly staff, spacious clean comfortable room, nice breakfast. Would recommend.
Location is perfect for the city centre my room was small but more than adiquite for my needs tiolet outsie my room on the same floor which isn't great would stay again as a solo travel but wouldn't want to take my wife for and overnight all that said it was just what I needed for my overnight stay, no complaints what so ever
Would recomend for a solo trip not a couple
Mainly, I arrived to find that my room was not ensuite as promised but had access to a private bathroom down the hall, very annoying. Additional y, this is listed as a hotel when clearly it is a guesthouse, very misleading. This hotel is not for anyone with mobility problems, I had 5 flights of steep stairs to my room and saw several elderly coupes really struggling with this.
We stayed as a group of three girls sharing a triple room. There was plenty of room for bags etc and the bathroom was large and luxurious. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The Scottish Breakfast was very nice and the service good.
A little bit noisy on a morning due to the stairs running past the room and the dining room being on the top floor.
Our rooms had a view of the Edinburgh Castle, and the location was terrific. We liked walking around the city and found the Castle View to be convenient for this. Also, we were glad to have breakfast included in our booking. The food was adequate and abundant. There was a certain charm about the place. The property managers tried their best to help the guests.
The beds were not very comfortable, and the bathrooms were pretty tight. Also, the water turned off at certain times -- generally when you were taking a shower! The place requires a fair bit of work, and it seems as some things were being attended to.
Very charming place to stay in.
Housekeeping missed the fact that some of the towels hanging were from the prior tenant so they let them remain assuming they would be in the room again.
Staff was accommodating. Room was satisfactory. Breakfast meal was typical full Scottish, satisfactory.
Five flights of stairs; very tiresome at the end of day. The manager did assist us with luggage.
